The engraving apparently cost $150.00.
State 1: the proof was apparently without soundings either in the Potomac,
or its branch. This omission is noted in two letters from Washington, in
which he asked that soundings be inserted, although they apparently never
were.
Advertisements in 'Dunlap's American Daily Advertiser' and 'The Gazette
of the United States' for September 15th 1792, apparently refer to both
this and the Thackara and Vallance plan.
