Neptune
'Comitatus Lanastriensis. The Countie Palatine
of Lancaster', first state.
From the Mercator-Hondius Newer Atlas, published
by Johannes Janssonius in 1636. By the time the completed English County
atlas appeared in 1646 this plate had been re-engraved, with a new title
in place of this vignette and armorials (in imitation of the new style
introduced by his arch-rival Blaeu) over the old title.
